Winter escapes

Why Egypt in winter?

While the days in Germany are short and grey, Egypt shows its sunny side – and it's often just a direct flight away. The Red Sea, desert light, the Nile and thousands of years of culture: there's something for every kind of winter escape.

  • The Red Sea: beaches, reefs and dive sites – for example in Hurghada, Marsa Alam, Sharm el-Sheikh or Dahab
  • The desert: the White Desert, oases and hikes with Bedouin guides
  • The Nile & culture: feluccas in Aswan, the temples of Luxor and the pyramids of Giza
  • The winter months are usually sunny and pleasant for excursions, temple visits and desert trips

This is where local insider knowledge helps: many of the best places to stay aren't in any package-holiday catalogue.

Red Sea

Reefs that start right off the shore, wrecks and shoals of fish – diving and snorkelling in the Red Sea works all year round.

Day trips

By boat to a wreck, by balloon over Luxor or out to the pyramids – Egypt is easy to explore one day at a time.

Desert & culture

Quiet wadis, oases, tea by the fire and Bedouin hospitality – just a short drive from the sea.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Does TravelPocket book the trip for me?

No. TravelPocket gives advice only and does not sell or arrange travel. You book flights and hotels yourself, directly with the airline and the hotel. That way you stay in full control of your booking, your payment and your contacts, and TravelPocket adds no markup to flight or hotel prices.

How much does the advice cost?

The first consultation is free. After that, the price depends on the scope of your trip and the support you want – pricing on request.

Which destinations do you cover?

Egypt – from the Red Sea (for example Hurghada, Marsa Alam, Sharm el-Sheikh or Dahab) to the desert and oases and Nile trips to Luxor and Aswan. We know the Red Sea coast especially well, having lived there for many years.

How does the WhatsApp concierge work?

During your holiday in Egypt you can reach us on WhatsApp – for example with questions about excursions, restaurants or diving, or if something isn't working out on the ground. We agree the scope and dates in advance.

Which languages do you speak?

German, English and Arabic.

We want to dive – can you help?

Yes. With more than 5,000 Red Sea dives in the team, we can give you tips on dive and snorkel sites and on choosing a suitable dive centre. You book your dives directly with the dive centre.
