2. In short

This is a simple, static website. It uses no cookies, no analytics or tracking tools and loads no third-party content (no external fonts, maps or videos). No form data is transmitted to me or stored through the website itself.

3. Hosting and server log files

This website is run by an external hosting provider: Netlify, Inc., USA. When you visit the site, the host automatically processes technically necessary data sent by your browser, in particular your IP address, the date and time of access, the page requested, the referrer URL, and your browser type and operating system (server log files). This data is processed only to deliver the website and keep it secure and stable. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR; my legitimate interest is the secure and error-free operation of the website.

4. Contact by email and contact form

If you email me, I process the data you provide (e.g. name, email address, trip wishes) to answer your enquiry. The contact form on this website does not send any data through the website: submitting it simply opens your own email app with a pre-filled message that you send yourself. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR (steps prior to or performance of a contract) or Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (answering general enquiries). I delete your data once it is no longer needed for this purpose, unless statutory retention obligations apply. I use Gmail, provided by Google Ireland Limited, for email; a transfer to third countries (in particular the USA) cannot be ruled out.

5. WhatsApp

This website contains links to WhatsApp. Simply visiting the website does not send any data to WhatsApp. Only when you click a WhatsApp link does the WhatsApp app or website open, operated by WhatsApp Ireland Limited, 4 Grand Canal Square, Grand Canal Harbour, Dublin 2, Ireland. If you contact me via WhatsApp, WhatsApp processes your data (e.g. phone number, message metadata) under its own terms, which may involve transfers to third countries (in particular the USA). I process your messages to answer your enquiry and support you during your trip (Art. 6(1)(b) or (f) GDPR). See WhatsApp's privacy policy for details. If you'd rather not use WhatsApp, just email me.

6. Your rights

You have the right of access (Art. 15 GDPR), rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction of processing (Art. 18), data portability (Art. 20) and the right to object to processing based on Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (Art. 21). Just email me.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority, for example the Berlin Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information.
